My Felicity.  Ah, I truly love this hat!  it is nicer than a traditional beanie because it doesn’t feel like it is squeezing my melon and yet it covers my head and ears so that the cold wind can not come knockin’.  

My mods for this one were:

cast on 80 on size 7 circulars and knit pattern till 3 inches, increase to 90 stitches knit till total 5 !inches, increase to 100 stitches and knit 4 more rounds, increase to 110 stitches and knit 4 more rounds, increase to 120 stitches and knit 4 more rounds and then begin the decrease as written beginning with knit 10, k2tog. around.  Finished and loved.

Ah!! Look, a finished object to report and just in time for winter weather.

This is the Swirl Neck Warmer by Sarah Chilson of Red Threads: Untangling. It is a super sweet pattern that was so easy to knit, I could hardly believe it. I used some stash yarn (Caron Simply Soft held double and followed the pattern right along).

The buttons were the most difficult part. I live in an area that apparently shall remain buttonless so I had to drive to Nashville to get these. I could have gotten them a little closer to home, like 40 miles away but I was headed to the BIG city anyway. JoAnn Fabrics rocks, people!

Anyway, there you have it. I have a few more things on the needles that should be coming off soon. Till then, stay safe and warm!

Previously blogged about in August, you may remember the odyssey that was finding this awesome shawl pattern in English.  Well, it was found and at the end of September it was completed.  We took the shawl to Old Stone Fort and had a little photo session.  For some reason, I believe that shawls/wraps should grow on trees because I have a tendency to photograph them there.  Ah, but if that were true, what would I do in my spare time, right?  Anyway, without further ado:

I have a new blog Today and Everyday that I will be using on a more daily basis for my random musings.  This blog, Wild Yarn, will only be used for knitting. 

I decided to separate the two blogs because they are so different and I realize that some people that come for the knitting could really give a crap about the other stuff so this makes finding what you want a little bit easier.  Plus, I like the idea of having a place to ramble on about insights, poetry, pictures, and other crafts and ideas that is it’s own.

The Scrap-Happy Celebration Hat

This hat was taken from Cosy. She has it posted as a freebie (which I love). I used 5 different “scrap” yarns and still have some leftover from a few more of these.

What more could one ask for in a pattern.

This one is going in the donation pile for my Rad Bad Beanies. I hope to have 12 hats completed before Thanksgiving so I can mail them off and give some kids some warm heads.

Saturday morning found my children hanging from an Oak branch.  Does this happen around your house?  My husband was tired of having this limb scrap the top of his big honking truck so he decided to cut it off.  Actually, he thought he could YANK it down and when that didn’t work he called in for back up.  The offspring.  Now, after dangling from the limb for awhile and realizing that this wasn’t the way, a saw was finally called for and the job was completed.

Afterward we drove an hour North and attended the NAIA Pow Wow.  It was loads of fun.  I love the Drumming and the dancing.  I got my fill this year as we went on a Saturday.  If you go on the last day then you usually miss out on all that.  I took tons of photo that I need to upload and share.  Will try and get that done on Tuesday.   

Sunday was a bit more low key.  After breaking up a dog fight (our Beagle is a little too aggressive for his small stature and gets himself into trouble from time to time), I needed a break.  I went to the one place that I can find total serenity, Old Stone Fort.  I hung out by myself for a couple of hours and came home happy and refreshed.

We all need help from time to time.  We all need to remember we are in this together.  You can not shut down and live.  It is not possible.  The only way to live is to give.  Think about how wide your heart opens up when you give to someone else.  Now, go here 29 DAYS and listen to the challenge.  Whether or not you choose to participate officially, at least entertain the idea of doing it for a bit on your own and see, just see, if in this time of grasping, in this time of need, that you don’t feel a bit better, less scared and more FREE!!
