Yoga Wednesday: Extended Foot Pose (1) or Padottanasana

Posted by dawnsrays on June 11, 2008

Lolly has set up a flickr group called Yoga Wednesday and since I like to do yoga and today is Wednesday I present my first post for your perusal.

Padottanasana meaning “intense foot stretch” is a great stretch for the calves and hamstrings, esp. to loosen hamstrings and addutors.

Done without camera assistance and no remote can cause pulling of these muscles, so not advised. . . aka: get help

Foliage Shawl (In Progress)

Foliage Shawl (In Progress), originally uploaded by DawnsRays.

This is my Foliage Shawl. I am more than half way through it. I am using some wonderful DK weight yarn from handpaintedyarn.com. It is coming along nicely and when I get the the edging, it will be a first for me because it is added on by picking up the stitches from the side and working vertically around. Can’t wait.

21 days till our Florida Vacation!  Whooooot!!

Days Go By

22/52: Days Go By, originally uploaded by DawnsRays.

Isn’t it strange
That princes and kings,
And clowns that caper
In sawdust rings,
And common people
Like you and me
Are builders for eternity?

Each is given a bag of tools,
A shapeless mass,
A book of rules;
And each must make–
Ere life is flown–
A stumbling block
Or a steppingstone.

“A Bag of Tools” by R. L. Sharpe

Oh it has been a week of “stumbling blocks AND steppingstones. . . is it time to tag in my counter part? I’m tired.

**Update, if you are following along:  AC was fixed, I need a CROWN on my tooth ($$$), and our AC problem was caused by wiring in our main electrical box which proceeded to shut down Monday night.  We are So Very Lucky that the house did not burn down.  I guess the $1,000 it cost to get a new box and all the stuff that goes along with it was well worth it in the end but hey,  seriously Universe. . . I need a frickn’ break.

Sacred Life Sunday: Afternoon Joe

Posted by dawnsrays on June 1, 2008

I just love my new French Press!  Makes the best coffee–who knew?
This has been a much over due weekend.  I have been really busy at work and when I get home I am wiped out.  I have been looking forward to two days of doing NOTHING.  Ah, it has been great.  Two side notes that have made my weekend a bit less than desirable:
  1. I broke a filling in my back molar and have a dentist appointment on Tuesday.  I fear the news I get there will be regarding a root canal, but I truly, truly hope not.
  2. Our AC has gone out.  Our house is a mini oven, slowly roasting 6 people alive.  The “man” comes tomorrow for the verdict on that.

So, that is a rough update.  I hope you have enjoyed your weekend and have been having a better time of it than I in the $$$$$$ department.  I seem to have pockets like a sieve.  Blast!

Amulet Bags

Posted by dawnsrays on May 22, 2008

Amulet Bags, originally uploaded by DawnsRays.

Taking a break from the long, arduous knitting of lace to get in a quick fix.  I love the Amulet Bag pattern so much!  it is fast and a great way to use some of that fantastic sock yarn that is out there.  These bags are in for great things.  One is for me to hold some wonderful oils and my rings while I am at work and the other is a gift that will hold, well. . . I can’t say at the moment, let’s just say it is the perfect pouch for what I have in mind. **unfortunately the pattern was on the MagKnits knitting page and has since been banished to the nether regions of cyber space**
