TMNT, Alas

March 31, 2007

Is this what happens to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the end?
intreguing.JPG
Have you ever seen such a thing? We found the little fella under some brush in the front yard under a holly bush. It is intreguing, no? Notice the bleached out top portion and the 1/2 inch ring of still colorful shell around the bottom. Hmm, it’s a head scratcher. We just left him to continue the decomposing process. . .
Hope you all have a great weekend. I have to work this morning then visit the tattoo shop and then complete some knits. Tomorrow, we CLEAN THE POND! my fish will be sooooo happy.
Peace~DAWN

Mmmmm

March 29, 2007

wool-and-silk-gift.JPG

This is 3 skeins of yarn that my secret pal sent to me. It is a hand dyed wool/silk blend in a colorway called “Pond”. I love it!! I have no idea what I will do with it yet but when the right pattern/idea raises it’s head, I will be ready.

Plus, I wanted to give a big {{shout out}} to all of the nice people who commented on my shawl… (cheesy grin).

Swallowtail Shawl

March 27, 2007

I loved this shawl from the moment that I saw it! It was feminine and elegant and well, frankly, too small for my taste. So I made mine with sport weight yarn and size 5 needles and this is what I got:
Swallow Tail 1

Swallow Tail 2

Swallow Tail 3

Here are my specs:
Pattern Swallowtail Shawl from InterweaveKnits Fall 2006
Finished Size: 30″x 66″ after blocking
Needles: size 5 Addi Turbo circs
Yarn: KnitPicks Shine in Cream (either 4 or 5 skeins)

I followed the pattern exactly with no added CO and no added repeats. It is a cotton/modal blend and the weight of this shawl is wonderful. We took the photos at dusk so that you could see the color and the design better. I plan on taking it to Florida this summer. I am in love with this shawl! I think done in lace weight with added repeats to make it bigger would be awesome. I would make this again and recommend it to anyone who loves lace. The “nupps” which was basically purling 5 together was really a breeze. After reading so many experiences on different KALS I was a little queezy when I got to that part but found that by doing the “sk2p’s” very very loosly, I had no problems on the purl side. Here is one last look see:

Have a wonderful day!! Peace~DAWN

I Got a Package

March 23, 2007

prge-half-of-1.JPG

Yesterday, as I was getting ready to go to the dentist (just a cleaning this time) I stopped at the mailbox to find a wee package containing all this goodness. My PRKG secret pal is great. She even got me chai tea… that is my favorite (second would be Jasmine) but how did she know? I didn’t tell her? hmmm, she’s good.

In knitting news, I’ve made a couple of wash clothes but didn’t photograph them because they are boring. Squares, man. I made them with some hand dyed organic cotton in blue. I used one last nite and got fuzzies all over my face. I am hoping this was a byproduct of new cotton and that the next time all the fuzzies are gone and I can wash my face without the added benefit of texture.

Oh, and I’m happy to report that I have no cavities. O they tried and tried to find one, those bastards, but in the end they concluded (the dentist and hygenist both) that is was probably a reflection from one of my crowns causing the discoloration because nothing showed in the xray and when light shown directly on it yadda yadda yadda….I wanted to throw off the little paper bib that had drops of my blood on it from the cleaning and run screaming from the building. Instead I sat, half reclined, and waited for them to come to their conclusion before snatching my little baggie of tooth paste and floss and getting the hell out of there. I’m okay, really I am. I had sparkling wine last nite. We were out of red but had like 4 bottles of the stuff stashed in the fridge. I added about 1/2 ounce of raspberry liquior to each glass and topped it with the bubbly. YUM!

TGIF, people! ~DAWN

WTF Fergie

March 22, 2007

wth-ferrgie-rs.jpg

I must say that while flipping through the People mag the other day in the bathroom, I let out a hoot and holler when I saw this photo. WTF!! what the hell is all that shit around her waist? what the hell are those big ‘ol things on her ears, is she landing a jet? and is she running to the sun–why the big shades? Good God! She probably dropped 10 pounds walking out the door with the big belt ‘o crap she strapped on. I mean seriously, do you truely need to accessorize THAT much when you go out for a run? In all fairness, she does look happy. . . me, I’d be flagging down a car to take me home (with the AC on, thank you very much).

Happy Thursday (one more day till the weekend!)~ DAWN

Hooray for a Beret!

March 20, 2007

ribbed-tam-rs.jpg
This is the beret that made me wanna drink last week. Not the pattern, the pattern is great and is VERY well written. The problems arose when I tried to change up the size for my large head. Like I said before, me and math don’t mix and to make matters worse, I second guess myself and to triple the bad matters I have a tendency to look ahead when the project is only a few rows in. I will start trying to envision the finished project and start thinking, “that doesn’t look right…how is this gonna be possible”. Instead of letting th piece transform itself, as it will always do. Hence my proficiency at frogging.

Here are the stats on the Beret:
Pattern: Big Blue Beret by Kelly
Yarn: 1 skein of Lion Brand WoolEase
Needles Sizes: 6 for ribbing and 8 for the body
Mods: small needles size from 4 to 6 and Number of CO from 72 to 84.
Pattern Recomendation: **** great pattern and very easy to do. I followed it pretty much as written and it turned out really cute. I wore it all day on St. Patricks Day. Very Irish, if you ask me.

May your glass be ever full,
may the roof over your head
be always strong,
and may you be in heaven
half an hour before the devil
knows you’re dead.

HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY! CHEERS!
