It’s a Lace Thang

April 24, 2008

I don’t know what it is but I just can’t get enough of the lace/shawl thing right now.  I completed a wrap for my summer swimsuit (which I will document later) but for now you can feast your eyes on the latest shawl that I began yesterday.

It is the Zetor Scarf (Shawl) Pattern and it is so pretty.  I am using up the leftover yarn I used to make my Chevron scarf with and because I don’t know how much is left of the skein this shawl will probably be two toned; ending with the purple on the bottom.  It is going to be so soft because this yarn is very cushy and springy.  I love it.  It should block really well.

For those of you on Ravelry here is a link to the others who have made this shawl.  Very different results depending on the yarn and gauge you use.  It is wonderful.

Happy Spring Time to you all!  Peace~ Dawn

All Mixed Up (prge #2 contest for Val)

April 18, 2008

This photo was taken at Old Stone Fort on the path by the big tree o love.  Only my feet didn’t make it in the shot.  Hmm.  Have yourself a fun weekend.  Enjoy each moment at it comes and take in the scenery around you.

Tattoo Tuesday

April 15, 2008

“Don’t worry.  The sound is more dramatic than the pain,” Auntie Zeliha remarked, reading her mind.  Then she added with a wink, “Besides, that customer is used to it.  This must be his twentieth.  Tattoo is an addiction sometimes.  One is never enough.  With every new tattoo you will discover the urge to get another one.  I wonder why addiction recovery centers have not included this in their programs yet.”  (p. 249 The Bastard of Istanbul)

It made me laugh out loud when I read it.  This is the “finished” tattoo on my shoulder.  I had the lion done and was not happy with the size so I had some filler added around him.  It had been done for a few months I just haven’t posted about it since the original.  In total this is #4.

If you are not part of PRGE this go around, you don’t have to pay attention to what follows.

The Bad and The Good

April 10, 2008

That my dear friends is the HOLE that was in my engine.  You remember the engine that I had to have replaced a few weeks ago.  Well, that hole was about the size of a soft ball.  My “new” engine is in and my car is running perfectly.  In fact, much better than it was the whole time I have had it.  Hmmm, it was probably bad all along.  Anyway, on to the Good:

This is some relatively expensive yarn from Art Yarns called Silk Rhapsody in a pale, dusty pink with gold.  It is a silk, kid mohair blend and it is so silky soft and shimmery.  I splurged because as I was walking through the LYS yesterday returning 2 skeins of organic cotton I spotted it and thought, “oh that is so pretty” and then I touched it and thought, “oh that is so soft”  and then I said, “screw it, it is mine”.  So yesterday I hand wound it into a nice ball and it is waiting, patiently for the arrival of a pair of knitting needles I am testing for a fellow blogger.  She wants to add them to her store and asked if I would test knit with them.  What an excuse for luxury yarn.  I will blame it all on her {hehehe}.

Have a terrific day–I know I will because it is my day off, all my company from over the weekend and beyond have left and I am sitting in peace and quiet.  Ahhhhhhhh. . . . .

Cherry Popper

April 8, 2008

With a title like that, what could I possibly mean?  I am participating in the Punk Rock Gift Exchange (for the 3rd time) and it’s my partner’s first and she explained in the first package to me that I popped her cherry for this exchange {blush}.  I feel special.

She spoiled me good, see.  Nice DK weight yarn that will probably become something like this.  Some awesome wooden dpn’s in all sizes imaginable, chai tea (me favorite), cool cool sock book, and of course who could survive a swap without CHOCOLATE and dark to boot!  To make the package even more spectacular she encluded some patches for my young one (cause he rocks, too).  I told him I get at least one so I picked out the leopard print one in the botton right corner (’tis fuzzy).

Who is responsible for such spoilage?  Valeria!  Thank you bunches, girl!

A New Shetland

April 7, 2008

This is what I made with the ingredients from my last post.  It is a second Shetland Shawl for a co-worker to wear on a cruise.  I made it in an Olive green so that she can wear it over a black dress.  The yarn is a fingering weigh alpaca/silk blend and the bottom is embellished with gold thread and dangly beads.  I will give it to her today.  I hope she likes it.  I didn’t tell her anything about it.  She told me about the dress and said for me to do what I wanted about color, etc.  Fingers crossed.
