Separation of Blogs

October 24, 2008

I have a new blog Today and Everyday that I will be using on a more daily basis for my random musings.  This blog, Wild Yarn, will only be used for knitting.

I decided to separate the two blogs because they are so different and I realize that some people that come for the knitting could really give a crap about the other stuff so this makes finding what you want a little bit easier.  Plus, I like the idea of having a place to ramble on about insights, poetry, pictures, and other crafts and ideas that is it’s own.

So, for knitting come here and enjoy all the fiber goodness you can stand and for other, please come by  TODAY AND EVERYDAY.  Have a great weekend.  Oh, shawl pictures coming soon!!

Peace~ Dawn

NAIA Pow Wow 2008–Tennessee

October 21, 2008
The Pow Wow that we went to on Saturday was so much fun. It was a fairly big one with lots of dancing and drumming. I had an Indian Taco served on fry bread–the best! We always go to the same booth because they serve it piled high with meat and veggies. The arts and crafts booths seemed to be a little bit bigger than last year. Lots of venders with beautiful jewelry and other craft ware. I would have loved to stayed and seen the dancing at night by my family was pooped so we called it a day around 4p.m.

My flickr page has many more photos plus you can see the pendant I bought, too.

Weekend Update for 10-18 thru 10-19

October 20, 2008

Saturday morning found my children hanging from an Oak branch.  Does this happen around your house?  My husband was tired of having this limb scrap the top of his big honking truck so he decided to cut it off.  Actually, he thought he could YANK it down and when that didn’t work he called in for back up.  The offspring.  Now, after dangling from the limb for awhile and realizing that this wasn’t the way, a saw was finally called for and the job was completed.

Afterward we drove an hour North and attended the NAIA Pow Wow.  It was loads of fun.  I love the Drumming and the dancing.  I got my fill this year as we went on a Saturday.  If you go on the last day then you usually miss out on all that.  I took tons of photo that I need to upload and share.  Will try and get that done on Tuesday.

Sunday was a bit more low key.  After breaking up a dog fight (our Beagle is a little too aggressive for his small stature and gets himself into trouble from time to time), I needed a break.  I went to the one place that I can find total serenity, Old Stone Fort.  I hung out by myself for a couple of hours and came home happy and refreshed.

Onward Ho!  Monday.  Hope you all have a great week!

Peace~ Dawn

Reach Out

October 15, 2008

In this time of grasping
In this time of need
I’m gonna lift my eyes up to sky
I’m fall down on my knees
and I’m gonna sing for all I’m grateful for
I’m gonna list all that I’ve seen
I’m gonna give till I ain’t got no more
then I’m gonna do it all over again.
Each time a new beginning,
each time another step in
till the doors have all been open
and we can all claim a piece of the win.

We all need help from time to time.  We all need to remember we are in this together.  You can not shut down and live.  It is not possible.  The only way to live is to give.  Think about how wide your heart opens up when you give to someone else.  Now, go here 29 DAYS and listen to the challenge.  Whether or not you choose to participate officially, at least entertain the idea of doing it for a bit on your own and see, just see, if in this time of grasping, in this time of need, that you don’t feel a bit better, less scared and more FREE!!

Autumn Mandala 10/14/08

October 14, 2008

Autumn is so full of beautiful details. There is so much to look at and so much to create.

Caroline has a great post on Mandalas and then I looked at my date book and the theme of the week is. . . Mandalas. It stated that you should go out into nature and create a mandala using whatever you can find as inspiration. So I did!!

So now I challenge you–Go forth into the wild (whatever that is for you), find leaves, stones, shells, feathers, whatever catches your eye and make a Mandala. Enjoy it for a little bit and then give it back to nature.

Congratulations! you are part of the never ending cycle of birth and creativity!! Have a blessed and joyful day!!
Peace~ Dawn

There is a harmony in Autumn,
and a lustre in its sky,
Which through the summer
   is not heard or seen.

Hey! Shorty

September 27, 2008

Hey! Shorty, originally uploaded by DawnsRays.

Nothing says fall like a hair cut.My young one wanted his hair cut. He said he needed it a little shorter so he wouldn’t have so many knots.

You don’t know how anxious it made me having to cut it for him. I love the long hair …. but he is happy with it and it looks good.

He shed 4 inches.
