Sacred Life Sunday: Oktoberfest ’08

October 12, 2008

Oktoberfest ’08, originally uploaded by DawnsRays.

Saturday October 11, 2008 OKTOBERFEST in Germantown — Nashville, Tn.

Beer, Polish sausage, Oompah bands, beer, crafts, pretzels, beer, people watching, local bands, beer, what more could you ask for on a clear, warm October day?

It was so much fun. This section of town is historic and they block it off each year for the festival. It is a really quaint neighborhood and as you walk around you feel like you know everyone!

When we first walked in there was this woman tending her garden and she was gathering seeds from this awesome plant. I walked up to her fence and was commenting on how beautiful her flowers were and she said, ” do you want some seeds?” I was so surprised by that sudden act of generosity for a (soon to be buzzed) stranger. It was great. I said “yes”, of course and collected my seeds, thanked her and went on my way. Great start to a great day.

Hope you encountered some generous strangers or was one yourself. Happy OKTOBERFEST, everyone!

Sacred Life Sunday: Leisurely Breakfast

July 13, 2008

Sundays are lazy days around these parts.  We may wake up early but no one gets out of their p.j’s, brushes their hair, or even hints at the days activities until well after 11am.  There is nothing finer than a pot of strong coffee and a box of pastries and your favorite form of mind numbing extravagance (tv, computer, book, paper or yard gazing).  You get that nice mixture of caffeine and sugar high that makes you feel FINE.  A pleasant euphoria.  After it dwindles and true hunger sets in, then and only then, do you grab for pants and keys and possibly head out for the day (or you simply waddle off to the fridge to forage for more substantial sustenance.)  However your Sundays begin, I hope they are the beginnings of a wonderful day that wraps up your weekend nicely.  Excuse me, I need more sugar.

{the photo was taken on vacation of one of the biggest pastries I have ever seen.  The picture is deceiving-because the danish was SO much larger than that cup of java.  Courtesy of Antonio’s Bakery–oh so yummy}

Sacred Life Sunday: Afternoon Joe

June 1, 2008
I just love my new French Press!  Makes the best coffee–who knew?
This has been a much over due weekend.  I have been really busy at work and when I get home I am wiped out.  I have been looking forward to two days of doing NOTHING.  Ah, it has been great.  Two side notes that have made my weekend a bit less than desirable:
  1. I broke a filling in my back molar and have a dentist appointment on Tuesday.  I fear the news I get there will be regarding a root canal, but I truly, truly hope not.
  2. Our AC has gone out.  Our house is a mini oven, slowly roasting 6 people alive.  The “man” comes tomorrow for the verdict on that.

So, that is a rough update.  I hope you have enjoyed your weekend and have been having a better time of it than I in the $$$$$$ department.  I seem to have pockets like a sieve.  Blast!

Sacred Life Sunday: Chakra Crystals

March 30, 2008

I love crystals, gems, rocks, stones.  These are my chakra crystals; each stone corresponds to one of the 7 main chakras of the energy body.  I simply love the fact that the heart chakra stone is shaped like a heart.  As soon as I saw that one I grabbed it and added it to the bag.  Nice.  I also love the giant amethyst and how deep the purple is closer to the point.

They are as follows:  Bloodstone, Tigers Eye, Citrine, Rose Quartz, Sodalite, Lapis Lazuli, and Amethyst.

Stay well and enjoy the close of the weekend and the opening of a new week. Peace~ Dawn

Sacred Life Sunday: The Yard Work Edition

March 2, 2008

Oh!  it was gorgeous on Saturday and Sunday promises to be a good one (temperature-wise, too).  Our front yard was a mess.  So, what better thing to do on a pre-spring day than get out and fix things up.  We had fun while we worked.  My sacred life this week is about families working together and having fun at the same time.

Enjoy your sacred life, too!  Peace~ Dawn

Sacred Life Sunday: Lazy Weekend

January 6, 2008

PhotobucketThere is nothing like a lazy weekend.  Nothing!  No appointments, no errands, no visitors, no chores just pure unapologetic  laziness.  How do work-a-holics manage without completely loosing it!  I mean, I love to have time everyday when there is no agenda you just do what you want to do and feel good about it.  This weekend was full of:

  •  knitting
  • naps
  • reading
  • baking
  • fires in the fireplace
  • movies
  • football
  • and some Wii

Ahhhh, I hope your weekend was as full filling as mine.  Oh, if you have not ever seen Nigella Lawson you do not know what you are missing and if you are in the mood for an indulgent cookbook full of easy, quick, satisfying recipes check out Nigella Express.  I got it for Christmas and I love it!  tasty food to satisfy any level of comfort.  **not for those who want to diet**
