All Mixed Up (prge #2 contest for Val)

April 18, 2008

This photo was taken at Old Stone Fort on the path by the big tree o love.  Only my feet didn’t make it in the shot.  Hmm.  Have yourself a fun weekend.  Enjoy each moment at it comes and take in the scenery around you.

Tattoo Tuesday

April 15, 2008

“Don’t worry.  The sound is more dramatic than the pain,” Auntie Zeliha remarked, reading her mind.  Then she added with a wink, “Besides, that customer is used to it.  This must be his twentieth.  Tattoo is an addiction sometimes.  One is never enough.  With every new tattoo you will discover the urge to get another one.  I wonder why addiction recovery centers have not included this in their programs yet.”  (p. 249 The Bastard of Istanbul)

It made me laugh out loud when I read it.  This is the “finished” tattoo on my shoulder.  I had the lion done and was not happy with the size so I had some filler added around him.  It had been done for a few months I just haven’t posted about it since the original.  In total this is #4.

If you are not part of PRGE this go around, you don’t have to pay attention to what follows.

PRGE Contest #2 (Part 1)

DawnsRays: “Should I Stay or Should I Go” The Clash

Twistedknitster: “Oliver’s Army” Elvis Costello

Cherry Popper

April 8, 2008

With a title like that, what could I possibly mean?  I am participating in the Punk Rock Gift Exchange (for the 3rd time) and it’s my partner’s first and she explained in the first package to me that I popped her cherry for this exchange {blush}.  I feel special.

She spoiled me good, see.  Nice DK weight yarn that will probably become something like this.  Some awesome wooden dpn’s in all sizes imaginable, chai tea (me favorite), cool cool sock book, and of course who could survive a swap without CHOCOLATE and dark to boot!  To make the package even more spectacular she encluded some patches for my young one (cause he rocks, too).  I told him I get at least one so I picked out the leopard print one in the botton right corner (’tis fuzzy).

Who is responsible for such spoilage?  Valeria!  Thank you bunches, girl!

PRGE Contest

March 21, 2008

My secret pal sent me her 3 favorite punk songs and I am to match them with a project or a yarn.  So here are the 3 songs and the pictures that follow are in order of the songs (whatever, that made no sense).

  1. The Tossers – Good Mornin Da
  2. Gogol Bordello – Super Theory of Super
  3. Apocalyptica - Inquisition Symphony

The first song is an Irish punk band and what speaks Irish more than a green tam?  Top ‘o the mornin’ ta ya.

The second song has a real gypsy feel to it and as soon as I heard it I thought of my two (unfinished) gypsy bags.  They are made from various scrap yarns and I love how lively and fun they are, just like the song.

Finally, the third song.  This one is more difficult and required a couple of listens before I could match it up with anything.  It is a band that features some Dutch cello players.  It is Classical style music with a kick in the punk ass.  Very complex and interesting.  Hello–that would be LACE!

Well, I hope you enjoyed that, even though most of you have no idea what it was all about. If you have the inclination, search the songs on iTunes and give them a little listen. You may broaden your musical horizon.

Have a great weekend!! Peace~ Dawn
